The Ha Tinh Department of Transport has submitted a report to the Ministry of Transport on a feasibility study to renovate and upgrade National Highway No. 8C running through the north-central province.

If approved, the upgrade will begin in 2023 and be completed in 2025.

The 27.7-km-long project will include two sections, from the Thien Cam tourism complex to National Highway No. 1 and from National Highway No. 8 to the Ho Chi Minh Highway. The initial investment proposal was approved by the Ministry of Transport under Decision No. 268/QD-BGTVT dated March 3, 2022.

Total investment is estimated at VND1.076 trillion ($45 million), from the State and provincial budgets.

Upon completion, National Highway No. 8C will help increase connections and capacity along the route from National Highway No. 1 to the Thien Cam tourism complex.

It is also expected to ensure smooth traffic flows through the province, support rescue work during the flood season on the left bank of the Ngan Pho River, and contribute to local socioeconomic and tourism development and ensure defense and security.
