Hai Phong needs high-quality workforce to attract FDI

Northern port city has attracted FDI totaling $25bln.

Northern Hai Phong city needs a huge workforce of high-quality human resources to meet its FDI attraction targets, according to Head of the Hai Phong Economic Zone Management Board Le Trung Kien.

The city has attracted nearly $25 billion in FDI and the figure is expected to increase by $10 billion by 2025.

It is estimated that it needs 10,000 workers, including 3,000 high-quality workers, for every $1 billion of FDI capital.

The city also plans to establish one or two innovation centers in the future to meet socio-economic development demand.

It will also increase cooperation with the Hanoi University of Technology to deal with the human resources issue.

A conference was held between the city and the university on May 15 to seek measures to boost their cooperation in human resources training and development to serve the construction and development of industrial parks and economic zones in Hai Phong.
