The northern port city of Hai Phong again posted economic growth in the first two months of the year, with increases also seen in other key economic indicators, according to the city’s General Statistics Office.
Its Index of Industrial Production (IIP) rose 13.89 per cent year-on-year.
FDI totaled $165.24 million, including $150.27 million in 18 new projects.
The total retail sales of consumer goods and services was estimated at over VND30.1 trillion ($1.22 billion), a year-on-year increase of 14.05 per cent.
The city’s Consumer Price Index (CPI) rose 3.38 per cent compared to the same period last year, fueled by increases in prices for construction materials and food, especially rice.
Over 1 million tourists were welcomed in the two-month period, up 10.03 per cent year-on-year, including 151,500 foreign visitors.
