The Index of Industrial Production (IIP) in the northern port city of Hai Phong has seen an upwards trend since the third quarter of this year, with high growth posted in certain key sectors such as electronics, shipbuilding, and motor vehicle production.

The city’s IIP rose 15.48 per cent year-on-year in October and 13.99 per cent against September. The index in the first ten months of the year rose 13.01 per cent year-on-year.

During the ten-month period, the city’s transport sector posted positive growth, with the volume of goods transported reaching 241.3 million tons, up 7.54 per cent year-on-year. Meanwhile, 58.4 million passengers were also transported, up 71.35 per cent.

The total volume of cargo transported via the city’s ports was estimated at over 12,800 tons, for year-on-year growth of 35.36 per cent.
