Hai Phong’s Thuy Nguyen urban area to become multisector economic center

Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha has approved the task of general planning for the Thuy Nguyen new urban area in Hai Phong city by 2045.

The move aims to specify the national and northern port city’s development strategies and orientations, and upgrade the Thuy Nguyen urban area into a multi-sectoral economic center of Hai Phong and the whole Red River Delta.

In the long term, it is to become a civilized and modern city and an international, smart city.

The planning scope includes the entire administrative boundary of Thuy Nguyen district and Vu Yen Island, as well as the adjacent mainland waters within the administrative boundary of Hai An district, with a scale of 26,910 ha.

It is projected that the area will accommodate a population of about 600,000 by 2035, 645,000 by 2040, and 725,000 by 2045.
