Hanoi generated jobs for 28,200 people in the first two months of this year, a year-on-year increase of 1.4 per cent, according to the municipal Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs.
The figure is equivalent to 17.4 per cent of the annual plan, which targets creating jobs for 165,000 workers.
More than 12,700 people were recruited in February alone, including over 1,000 employed via job transaction sessions.
The city also sent over 8,000 workers abroad.
The Hanoi Job Services Center organized 35 job transaction sessions in the two-month period, with the participation of over 1,000 businesses.
Hanoi plans to organize 230 job transaction sessions this year, during which 20,000 workers are expected to be recruited.
