The Hanoi Department of Transport officially launched a pilot smart traffic operation center (OTC) on July 4, the Government News has reported.
The OTC, established at the city’s Traffic Management and Operations Centre, applies technical and technological solutions to efficiently organize, manage and operate the transportation system, ensuring traffic safety, reducing travel times and costs, and protecting the environment.
It is fully equipped for traffic monitoring, traffic information provision, traffic control, public traffic management, incident management, traffic infrastructure management, parking management and electronic public transport ticket management.
The operation of the OTC serves as the foundational core for the formation of the city’s intelligent transportation system, according to the department’s director Nguyen Phi Thuong.
