Hanoi aims to put Unit 3 of the Soc Son Waste-to-Energy Plant and the Seraphin Waste-to-Energy Plant to operation in 2025, increasing the total energy output from waste treatment to over 129 MW.

This is the key target of a plan that the Hanoi People's Committee has approved, outlining the city's renewable energy development scheme for 2025.

The plan focuses on developing new and renewable energy sources to meet electricity demand, ensure energy security, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and protect the environment. The city will also promote the development of rooftop solar power in accordance with the government's policy.

Notably, Hanoi will continue to encourage investment in waste treatment projects using advanced technologies for power generation from incineration, as the city plans to accelerate power sources from solid waste treatment.

Under the plan, Hanoi will increase its renewable energy capacity by approximately 67 MW from waste-to-energy, bringing the total energy output from waste treatment to about 129.3 MW.

Additionally, the city aims to increase rooftop solar power capacity by around 30 MW and encourages solar-powered public lighting.
