Hanoi to add nearly 2,500 bus coach trips to serve public during Lunar New Year holidays

The Hanoi Transport Station Joint Stock Company has announced its plans to serve the public during the peak travel period of the Lunar New Year (Tet)  and the subsequent spring festival season.

Mr. Pham Manh Hung, the company’s director, stated that the peak travel period will be from January 20 to February 4, 2025.

He stated that the number of passengers passing through the bus stations during this peak period is expected to increase by about 250-350% compared to normal days. Therefore, additional backup coaches will be deployed to manage congestion that may occur on some routes at certain times.

At Giap Bat Bus Station, peak days are expected to see about 20,000 passengers daily, a 350% increase from normal, with an estimated 850-900 coach trips per day. Passenger numbers will mainly rise on routes to northern provinces of Nam Dinh, Thai Binh, Ninh Binh, and Thanh Hoa.

At Gia Lam Bus Station, peak days are expected to see about 5,000 passengers daily, a 250% increase from normal, with an estimated 400 coach trips per day, primarily on routes to Hai Phong city and  Quang Ninh, and Bac Giang.provinces 

At My Dinh Bus Station, peak days are expected to see about 22,000 passengers daily, a more than 350% increase from normal, with an estimated 950+ coach trips per day, mainly on routes to northern provinces such as Hoa Binh, Ha Giang, Lao Cai, Yen Bai, Dien Bien, Son La, Lai Chau, Quang Ninh, and Cao Bang.

Given this situation, the company has estimated that 2,486 additional coaches will be required to manage passenger overflow during the Lunar New Year across its stations (Giap Bat, My Dinh, and Gia Lam).
