Hanoi’s export sector maintained a solid recovery in the first half of 2026, supported by stronger overseas demand and rising manufacturing activity.

According to the municipal Department of Industry and Trade, the city’s export turnover reached $5.966 billion in the second quarter, up 29.2% from the first quarter and 9.4% year-on-year. Cumulative exports in the first six months totaled $10.585 billion, an increase of 5.5% from the same period last year.

Notably, monthly exports exceeded $2 billion in both May and June, underscoring the improving momentum in external trade.

On the import side, Hanoi recorded import turnover of $30.911 billion in the first half, up 39.6% year-on-year. The sharp increase was driven mainly by imports of machinery, equipment, components and production materials, reflecting a recovery in manufacturing, investment and business demand for production inputs ahead of a new export order cycle.

For 2026, Hanoi targets export turnover of approximately $23.256 billion, representing annual growth of 12%.
