Ho Chi Minh City hosted two major industry exhibitions from October 21–23, 2026, bringing together businesses across the oil and gas, energy, maritime, shipbuilding and offshore industries.

The 2026 Vietnam Oil and Gas Industry Machinery, Equipment and Technology Exhibition (OGAV 2026) and the 2026 Vietnam Maritime and Shipbuilding Exhibition (VIMOX 2026) provide a platform for showcasing new technologies, exploring business opportunities and strengthening cooperation among domestic and international companies.

As part of the VIMOX, the Vietnam Shipowners’ Association hosted a seminar entitled “Enhancing the Competitiveness of Vietnam’s Fleet in the Era of Green and Digital Transformation”. Discussions focused on opportunities and challenges facing Vietnam’s shipping fleet, including stricter environmental requirements, greenhouse gas emissions reduction, technology adoption and digitalisation in maritime transport.

The seminar brought together domestic and international experts and businesses to exchange experience and propose practical solutions for the sustainable development of Vietnam’s maritime sector.

VIMOX 2026 also highlighted the country’s growing shipbuilding capabilities.

According to maritime and shipbuilding market research by UK-based Clarksons Research, Vietnam delivered 720,884 gross tonnes (GT) of newly built commercial vessels in 2024, accounting for approximately 1.01% of global output and ranking fourth worldwide.

In 2025, deliveries increased to 877,576 GT, representing around 1.1% of global production.

Vietnam also secured approximately 2 million GT in shipbuilding orders in 2025, ranking fourth globally behind China, South Korea and Japan.
