HCM City's public capital disbursment reaches $428 mln in 5M

Ho Chi Minh City disbursed nearly VND10.9 trillion ($428 million) of public investment capital in the first five months of this year, equivalent to 13.7% of the annual target and up 18% compared to the same period last year, according to the city’s Statistics Office.

In order to fulfill the target, the city needs to disburse an average VND10 trillion (39.7 million) each month.

Accordingly, Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee Phan Van Mai has requested relevant departments, agencies and investors to urgently carry out assigned tasks and take stronger measures to deal with obstacles and difficulties to accelerate the disbursement of public investment capital.

The Statistics Office also reported that HCM City attracted FDI capital of nearly $949 million during the five-month period, down 17.1% year-on-year.

Meanwhile, the city’s Index of Industrial Production (IIP) surged 5.3% year-on-year, the highest growth in the last three years.
