Ho Chi Minh City has become the first locality in Vietnam to complete the digitalization of four types of civil status registration, totaling over 12.8 million records.

The municipal People's Committee has reported on the implementation of the Project on Developing Applications of  Population Database and Electronic Authentication and Identification to serve the National Digital Transformation in the period 2022-2025, with a vision to 2030 (Project 06).

As a result, HCMC is the first locality nationwide to complete the digitalization of four types of civil status registration, including marriage, birth, death, and child or parent adoption; totaling over 12.8 million records.

All digitized data of civil status registration in the city has been synchronized with the Ministry of Justice's civil status database.

Since June 2022, local residents have been able to obtain certified copies of marriage, birth, death, and adoption certificates directly from the city's shared data repository instead of from local registry offices.

Additionally, HCMC has established a comprehensive shared data repository encompassing 45 data groups from various sectors, including administrative procedures and economic and social information. The city has also developed a geographic information system (GIS) data repository containing 201 GIS data layers.

To further streamline administrative processes, HCMC developed a centralized administrative procedure processing information system in October 2022.
