HCMC plans to open sea ferry route to Tien Giang

The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Transport has proposed the city’s People’s Committee open a sea ferry route connecting the city with the Mekong Delta’s Tien Giang province.

The 12-km ferry will run between Can Gio district and Go Cong Dong district in Tien Giang.

Investment is estimated at VND120 billion ($4.8 million).

It is scheduled to begin operations in the second quarter of 2024, with four trips daily.

The new route is expected to help meet increasing passenger and cargo transport demand from Can Gio district to other localities by waterway, creating conditions for the district to boost socio-economic development and tourism.

It will also help ease pressure on road transport and traffic congestion between Can Gio district and Tien Giang.
