IIP up 18.3% in January

Manufacturing sector rises 19.3% year-on-year.

Vietnam’s Index of Industrial Production (IIP) rose 18.3 per cent in January compared to January 2023, according to the General Statistics Office (GSO).

The figure was, however, down 4.4 per cent against December.

The manufacturing sector rose 19.3 per cent year-on-year, electricity generation and distribution 21.6 per cent, water supply and sewerage and waste management 5.7 per cent, and mining 7.3 per cent.

According to the latest GSO report, the IIP increased in 60 localities and fell in three in January compared to January last year.

Provinces recording high growth in the IIP of the manufacturing and processing sector were northern Quang Ninh province, up 157.9 per cent year-on-year, northern Bac Giang province 55.7 per cent, northern Nam Dinh province 56.9 per cent, the Mekong Delta’s Vinh Long province 51.2 per cent, and the Mekong Delta’s Kien Giang province 47.7 per cent.
