Vietnam’s Index of Industrial Production (IIP) rose 3.9 per cent in July compared to June and 3.7 per cent year-on-year, according to the General Statistics Office (GSO).
The manufacturing and processing sector increased 3.6 per cent year-on-year, mining 4 per cent, electricity production and distribution 4.1 per cent, and water supply and sewerage and waste management and remediation activities 8.3 per cent.
The IIP in the first seven months, however, was down 0.7 per cent year-on-year as the global economy continued to encounter difficulties.
During the period, the index of some key industries increased significantly year-on-year, including coke and refined petroleum, metal ore mining, and rubber and plastic.
Figures from the GSO also show that 49 of Vietnam’s 63 cities and provinces recorded an increase in their IIP during the period.
