Under a supervision of specialized agencies from the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, a batch of 120,000 doses of  AVAC ASF LIVE vaccine (the African swine fever (ASF) vaccine) was officially exported to Indonesia on May 9.

Following previous exports to the Philippines and Nigeria, Indonesia becomes the third country to import the AVAC ASF LIVE vaccine from Vietnam, marking a significant milestone in Vietnam’s contributions to global livestock disease prevention.

Developed and manufactured by AVAC Vietnam Joint Stock Company, AVAC ASF LIVE is the world’s first successfully commercialized attenuated live vaccine for preventing African swine fever, a devastating infectious disease that has severely impacted the global livestock industry.

Dr. Nguyen Van Diep, General Director of AVAC Vietnam Joint Stock Company, reported that the company has supplied nearly 4 million doses of the vaccine to the market, with over 3 million doses used in Vietnam.

The vaccine has been instrumental in ASF control across multiple provinces, including Cao Bang, Lang Son, Bac Ninh, Hai Duong, Hai Phong, Quang Ninh, Quang Ngai, and Tra Vinh. Supported by local budgets, vaccination campaigns have reported no cases of recurrence after administration, ensuring herd safety and disease prevention.

Before receiving official circulation approval in Indonesia, the AVAC ASF LIVE vaccine underwent nearly three years of dossier evaluations and field trials, coordinated by the Indonesian Ministry of Agriculture and the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine – Biology at IPB University. Trials conducted on 300 pigs confirmed that the vaccine is safe and highly effective in preventing ASF infections.
