The Binh Thuan Provincial People’s Committee has proposed increasing investment in the construction of the Ka Pet reservoir project to over VND874 billion ($36.8 million) from the initial estimated VND585.6 billion ($24.7 million), according to Minister of Planning and Investment Nguyen Chi Dung.
He presented a report on the adjustment plan for discussion by lawmakers at the first working day of the 15th National Assembly’s fifth session on May 22.
Located in Ham Thuan Nam district in the south-central province, this is an important national project under the Law on Public Investment and was approved by the National Assembly in November 2019. It was designed to provide water for agricultural production, industrial parks, and local people’s daily activities.
When conducting the feasibility study for the project, there were changes made in the cost of workforce, equipment, construction materials, and, particularly, site clearance compensation, leading to increases in proposed investment capital, according to the report.
