The Government News has quoted the Ministry of Planning and Investment as reporting that overseas investment from Vietnam stood at $395 million in the first eleven months of 2023, a year-on-year increase of 16.7 per cent.
Of this, $257.3 million went to 117 newly-licensed projects, down 35 per cent in value against the same period last year. The remainder was additional capital in 24 existing projects, up 1.8-fold.
Wholesale and retail, and repair of cars, motorbikes, and other motorized vehicles topped the investment list, with $153.6 million, followed by information and communications with $120.4 million and the production and distribution of electricity, gas, hot water, steam and air conditioning with $84.4 million.
Vietnamese investors invested in 26 countries and territories during the period, with Canada being the top investment destination, attracting $150.3 million, followed by Singapore with $122.5 million and Laos with $115.8 million.
