Siemens group interested in Vietnam's high-speed railway project

Minh Kiệt -

The German technology giant expresses interest in Vietnam's infrastructure development projects, during meeting with the Vietnamese Prime Minister in Tianjin, China.

Chief Technology Officer and Chief Strategy Officer at German technology giant Siemens AG Peter Körte expressed the group’s interest in Vietnam’s infrastructure development projects, particularly high-speed railway project, during a meeting with Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh in Tianjin, China, on June 25.

The meeting took place on the sidelines of the 16th Annual Meeting of the New Champions of the World Economic Forum (WEF).

PM Chinh welcomed the group's plan to expand its investment and business activities in Vietnam, particularly in infrastructure development.

Vietnam is adopting various models, including public–private partnerships (PPP), to step up investments in major national infrastructure projects, particularly in transportation, energy, and digital infrastructure, the PM said.

The country is investing in the construction of railway lines connecting with China to reach Central Asia and Europe, he said, suggesting that Siemens engage with Vietnamese relevant ministries and agencies to discuss these projects.
