The Government News quoted official data from the General Department of Customs and Excise of Cambodia (GDCE) as reporting that its export value to Vietnam saw a year-on-year increase of 116.6 per cent in January, reaching $373 million.
The neighboring country’s main export items were rice, rubber, cashew nuts, cassava, corn, bananas, mangoes, tobacco, and natural resources.
Vietnam is now Cambodia’s second-largest export market, after the US and ahead of China, Japan, and Thailand.
Two-way trade has grown steadily, totaling nearly $6.6 billion in 2023, an increase of more than 7 per cent compared to 2022.
Cambodia’s exports to Vietnam last year increased 37.1 per cent to $2.97 billion, while its imports from Vietnam totaled $3.61 billion, down 8.9 per cent.
