Northern Lai Chau province targets increasing its housing area by more than 1.85 million sq m by 2025 under a renewed housing development plan for 2021-2025 approved recently by the Provincial People’s Committee.

The plan will need a total land area of over 520.1 ha and total capital of more than VND13.87 trillion ($580 million).

The average housing floor area per person is expected to reach 19.5 sq m.

Housing development will focus on urban areas, townships, and district centers with various models of houses in association with public entertainment and tourism works.

In rural areas, residential areas will be built in connection with production zones.

As of December 2022, Lai Chau had more than 105,600 houses on a total area of over 9 million sq m.
