The Bao Yen District People’s Committee in northern Lao Cai province has launched a campaign to facilitate resettlement work for site clearance in the construction of Lao Cai Airport.

Around 205 households will be relocated for project construction.

The project was approved by the Prime Minister in 2021.

Construction of the first phase, covering nearly 300 ha, has estimated investment of VND4.2 trillion ($177 million).

It has a designed capacity of catering to 1.5 million passengers a year.

The second phase will expand capacity to 3 million passengers a year, with total investment of an estimated VND2.76 trillion ($116 million).

The project is expected to create a breakthrough in the development of transport infrastructure in Lao Cai province and the nearby region.
