On the evening of October 2, the opening ceremony was held at the Hanoi Opera House, with the attendance and remarks of Vietnamese Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Ho An Phong.
Representing the Lao People’s Democratic Republic were Ms. Darany Phommavongsa, Deputy Minister of Information, Culture and Tourism; Ms. Khamphao Ernthavanh, Ambassador of the Lao PDR to Vietnam; along with representatives of agencies and organizations from both countries.
Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy. Minister Darany Phommavongsa emphasized: “Laos' Culture Week in Vietnam will contribute to strengthening the great friendship, special solidarity, and comprehensive cooperation between the Parties, States, and peoples of Laos and Vietnam.”
Expressing his appreciation to Ms. Darany Phommavongsa and the delegation from the Lao People’s Democratic Republic, Deputy Minister Ho An Phong highlighted that the relationship between Vietnam and Laos is a truly special one — a time-honored, exemplary model of cooperation rarely seen in the world. He affirmed that the friendship and comprehensive cooperation between the two countries, nurtured by President Ho Chi Minh and generations of Lao leaders, continues to grow stronger and deeper over time.
Laos' Culture Week in Vietnam 2025 is a major event under the Cultural, Artistic, and Tourism Cooperation Plan between the Vietnamese Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Lao Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism for the 2021–2025 period.
In the spirit of special friendship and solidarity, the two ministries have worked closely to sustain the annual rotating Cultural Week held alternately in each country. The event celebrates the long-standing friendship and cultural exchange between Vietnam and Laos, serving as a bridge to deepen mutual understanding between the two peoples, while promoting the rich artistic traditions and cultural heritage of Laos.
As part of the event, Laos artists will present a series of special art performances, featuring traditional dances and songs that reflect the cultural beauty, national spirit, and achievements of the Lao people in their journey of nation-building and development.
