Da Nang Software Park No. 2 in central Da Nang city has been temporarily halted despite completing basic construction and infrastructure due to legal obstacles that are to be addressed shortly.

Deputy Director of the city’s Department of Information and Communications Le Son Phong told a press briefing on October 25 that this has become a bottleneck for the local information technology (IT) industry.

Covering nearly 29,000 sq m in Hai Chau district, the project has total investment capital of VND1 trillion ($40.6 million) from the city budget.

“Considered socio-economic infrastructure for the city’s IT development, this is a public asset because it uses State budget funds,” said Mr. Phong. “However, there is a lack of regulations on the management and use of the software park.”

“The Department expects such obstacles to be removed shortly to put the project into operation, creating space for the city’s IT development. Demand among businesses for space for IT development has exceeded supply.”
