Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has agreed for northern Hai Phong city and Ninh Binh province to build sections of the Ninh Binh - Hai Phong Expressway in their locality.
The expressway was approved by the Prime Minister in September 2021 and has a total length of 117 km.
The section running through Ninh Binh province is 26 km and will have a speed limit of 120 km/h and four lanes. Earlier, provincial authorities proposed the government provide 4.865 trillion ($205 million), with the remaining VND2 trillion ($84.3 million) to come from the provincial budget.
The section running through Hai Phong city, meanwhile, is 29 km. Of this, 22 km will be built under the build-operate-transfer (BOT) mode, with the remainder funded by the local budget.
And the section running through Thai Binh and Nam Dinh provinces, between Hai Phong and Ninh Binh, which is 62km, will be implemented by Thai Binh in the public-private-partnership (PPP) form.
The project will be a driving force for development of the region to the south of Hanoi, the Red River Delta, and the north-central region.
Prime Minister Chinh also assigned the Son La Provincial People’s Committee in Vietnam’s north to prepare investment to build the Hoa Binh - Moc Chau Expressway.
