Logistics providers: Digital transformation helps boost revenue

Nhĩ Anh -

Companies have increasingly recognized the importance of digital transformation in business success.

Over 80 per cent of companies in the logistics and transport industries believe that digital transformation plays a significant role in their business, according to a recent survey by the Vietnam Association for Logistics Manpower Development (VALOMA).

The survey results were released at the APEC Workshop on Facilitating Digital Transformation for SMEs in Logistics and Transport Post COVID-19 Pandemic, jointly held on September 7 and 8 by the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the APEC Secretariat.

“The figure is a positive sign in the journey towards the comprehensive digitization of Vietnam’s logistics industry,” said Ms. Cao Cam Linh, Head of VALOMA’s Research Department and Strategic Director at Viettel Post. “Companies have increasingly recognized the importance of digital transformation.”

Logistics businesses are well aware that digitization is an indispensable trend and brings practical benefits for their operations. According to the VALOMA survey, 56 per cent of CEOs at logistics companies said digital transformation helps boost revenue.

A report from S&P Global released this year said 67 per cent of surveyed logistics and transport businesses said it was necessary to implement digital transformation strategies.

Digitization helps the suppliers of transport services reduce delivery delays and fuel costs, it showed.

Business surveys by the OECD reveal that up to 70 per cent of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) have intensified their use of digital technologies due to lockdowns and disruptions to supply chains.
