Ho Chi Minh City’s Transportation Works Construction Investment Project Management Authority (TCIP) has suggested the city’s People’s Committee propose that the Prime Minister issue a special mechanism to help speed up construction of the expressway connecting the city with Moc Bai international border gate in southern Tay Ninh province.

The link will continue in Cambodia via the under-construction Phnom Penh - Bavet Highway.

The expressway has a total length of 50 km, including a 23.7-km section in Ho Chi Minh City and a 26.3-km section in Tay Ninh.

In the first phase, the expressway will be built with four lanes under the build-operate-transfer model, with estimated investment of over VND16.7 trillion ($698 million).

The TCIP said it has proposed support of VND2.9 trillion ($121 million) from the central budget for site clearance in Ho Chi Minh City and Tay Ninh.

Once completed, the expressway will become an important route connecting economic centers, border gates, and key urban areas in the southern region.
