The Ministry of Science and Technology on September 11 officially put into operation the National Information System for Science, Technology and Innovation at https://sti.gov.vn.
The system enables the connection, integration, management, exploitation, and sharing of information and data on science and technology activities; intellectual property; standards, metrology and quality; technology and high technology; science and technology enterprises; innovative startups; technology transfer; and other related areas.
It also provides a statistical data platform featuring 137 sectoral statistical indicators for science and technology and 17 national statistical indicators in the field. This provides an important foundation for gradually building a unified and centralized data source capable of supporting monitoring, analysis, evaluation, and data-driven policymaking.
One of the system's key features is its ability to establish multidimensional links among data on science and technology organizations, scientists, science and technology tasks, and scientific publications. It can also automatically connect and synchronize with the Information System for Administrative Procedure Settlement and the Digital Platform for Managing Science and Technology Tasks of the Ministry.
In terms of connectivity infrastructure, the system has been integrated with the National Data Center. It supports single sign-on via VNeID and is ready to connect and share data in real time with the National Population Database.
The system is designed to serve a wide range of users. Government agencies will have additional tools for monitoring, analysis, and decision-making; scientists will have better access to information on experts, organizations, research and technology tasks, and scientific publications; research institutes and universities will gain an additional data source for research and evaluation; while businesses will be able to access information on technology, innovation, and technology transfer more conveniently.
Deputy Minister of Science and Technology Le Xuan Dinh stressed that the launch and operation of the system is only the beginning.
“The value of the system does not lie in how modern the software is, but in the quality of the data, its ability to connect, the extent to which it is utilized, and the practical impact it delivers,” he said.
