The My Thuan - Can Tho expressway section of the Eastern North-South Expressway is scheduled to open to traffic on December 24, according to the My Thuan Project Management Board.

The 23-km section passes through the Mekong Delta provinces of Dong Thap and Vinh Long and has total investment of VND4.82 trillion ($202 million).

It will have six lanes with a roadbed width of 32.25 meters, allowing a maximum speed of 100 kph.

Construction began in 2021 but was then delayed due to Covid-19, slow site clearance, and a shortage of construction materials for leveling.

The investor proposed that the Ministry of Transport extend the completion time on the three packages within the project to December 2023.

Contractors are now focusing all efforts on completing the project on schedule, working in shifts around the clock.
