The National Assembly approved the dismissal of Deputy Prime Ministers Pham Binh Minh and Vu Duc Dam at the Prime Minister’s request during its second extra-ordinary meeting held in Hanoi on January 5.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh said the request was made based on the personal aspirations of Minh and Dam.

In a vote, 476 deputies, or 95.97 per cent, agreed with the dismissal of Minh and Dam.

They will retire in line with current regulations.

An extra-ordinary session of the Communist Party Central Committee last week voted for Standing Deputy Prime Minister Pham Binh Minh to no longer be a member of the Politburo and member of the 13th Central Party Committee; and for Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam to no longer  be a member of the 13th Central Party Committee.
