Nestlé Vietnam has recently announced an additional investment of $100 million to increase capacity at the Nestlé Tri An factory in southern Dong Nai province, bringing total investment in the factory to more than $500 million.

The additional capital will help increase capacity to meet rising demand for coffee, and will continue to make Vietnam a center for producing and supplying high-value coffee to domestic and world markets.

Products from the Nestlé Tri An factory have been exported to more than 29 countries and territories around the world.

Nestlé is also the largest coffee purchaser in the country, reaching up to $700 million.

Discussing the investment, Mr. Binu Jacob, General Director of Nestlé Vietnam, said the project is a testament to Nestlé’s long-term investment commitment in Vietnam.

“It is expected that when the project comes into operation, the factory’s capacity will increase, meeting domestic demand and effectively exploiting export potential, making Vietnam a center for supplying high-value coffee to the world,” he added. “At the same time, through the project, we also hope to create many jobs and continue to expand long-term investment in Vietnam, contributing to sustainable economic development and prosperity in the country.”

Sustainable coffee production is one of Nestlé’s important directions in Vietnam.

In addition to investing in production technology, the Nestlé Tri An factory has been a pioneer in sustainable development through the use of clean and biomass energy, applying a circular economy in waste management and water resources conservation.

Each year the factory reduces its carbon dioxide emissions by more than 14,000 tons during coffee processing.

All coffee grounds are reused after production as raw biomass materials.

Wastewater from production is treated, recycled, and reused in boilers, helping the factory save more than 112,000 cu m of water each year.

At the same time, with a desire to contribute to improving the quality of Vietnamese coffee beans, Nestlé has implemented the NESCAFÉ Plan program in the central highlands region since 2011.

The program has brought positive solutions to sustainably developing Vietnam’s coffee industry, from distributing high-quality seedlings to farming according to regenerative agriculture and protecting water resources and biodiversity.

“With a sustainable business strategy, Nestlé Vietnam not only creates nutritional products, improves the quality of life of Vietnamese people, and increases the value of the country’s coffee beans, but also aims to protect and regenerate resources for future generations,” Mr. Jacob added.

Nestlé has now invested nearly $830 million through the Nestlé Vietnam Co., Ltd., with four factories and two distribution centers.

In Dong Nai province alone, the company operates three factories, of which Nestlé Tri An is one of its largest factories in Vietnam. It also has the most modern scale and technology of all Nestlé factories in the region.
