PM approves construction of four more container terminals in Hai Phong

The four terminals will be built at Lach Huyen port in Dinh Vu - Cat Hai Economic Zone.

The Prime Minister has approved an investment policy for four more container terminals at Lach Huyen port in northern Hai Phong city's  Dinh Vu – Cat Hai Economic Zone, which are capable of accommodating vessels of between 12,000 – 18,000 TEUs.

Total investment capital is estimated at over VND24.84 trillion ($944 million).

The projected container terminals No. 9, 10, 11 and 12  will have a total length of 1,800m.

 The project also includes a 400-meter berth dedicated to receiving and dispatching barges through inland waterways.

Other components include construction of container yards, a repair workshop, internal roads, auxiliary facilities, and synchronized technical infrastructure to ensure full operation of the port.

The project will span a total land and water surface area of around 146.2 hectares.

Implementation is scheduled to last from 2026 to 2035, including two phases. The first phase, 2026 – 2030, will cover the construction of terminals No.9 and No.10, and the second phase, 2031 – 2035, for the remaining two terminals.
