The Ministry of Transport has approved the planning of Gia Binh International Airport for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050.

Located in Gia Binh district, the northern province of Bac Ninh, Gia Binh International Airport will be a joint-use airport for civil and security purposes.

The projected Gia Binh International Airport will meet the 4E airport standard (according to the ICAO standard code) with a capacity of approximately one million passengers and 250,000 tons of cargo per year.

Aircraft types to be operated will include Boeing 787, Airbus 350, Boeing 777, A321, and other specialized aircraft. The planned runway size is 3,500m x 45m, with material shoulders sized according to regulations.

The ministry also plans to include a helicopter parking system to serve the Air Regiment of the People's Public Security Forces and an aircraft parking area for civil aviation, accommodating approximately 11 parking positions for specialized and civil aviation aircraft.

With a vision to 2050, Gia Binh International Airport will have a capacity of approximately three million passengers and one million tons of cargo per year.

In this phase, the expansion of the aircraft parking area in the civil aviation zone will accommodate approximately 26 parking positions
