Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Van Thang has been appointed as the Head of the National Steering Committee for Official Development Assistance (ODA) and Preferential Loans, under Decision No.1659/QD-TTg, signed  by Prime Minister Le Minh Hung on August 26.

Under the decision, Deputy Minister of Finance Tran Quoc Phuong will serve as deputy head of the Steering Committee.

The  Committee is responsible for putting forward to the Prime Minister orientations and policies to lure and use effectively ODA and preferential loans.

It also helps the Prime Minister coordinate relevant authorities and localities in preparing and carrying out programs and projects using ODA or preferential loans.

Additionally, it collects feedbacks from Vietnamese agencies and sponsors, directs relevant agencies to complete management regulations, and streamline administrative procedures in ODA management and use to boost disbursement of the capital source.
