North-central Nghe An province attracted $725.4 million in FDI in the first half of the year, ranking it eighth out of Vietnam’s 63 localities, figures from the provincial Department of Planning and Investment show.
It granted licenses to eight new FDI projects in the period with total registered capital of $613.8 million.
Major FDI projects include the Luxhare - ICT plant producing electronic components and with investment of $140 million; a Goertek Group plant manufacturing electronic products, network equipment, and multimedia audio products with capital of $500 million; a plant from the Everwin Precision Vietnam Ltd. Co manufacturing electronic components and with investment of $199.8 million; and a Ju Teng plant producing electronic components and automobile spare parts with $200 million in capital.
As of June 30, the province had attracted 66 domestic and foreign projects this year, a year-on-year rise of 13.79 per cent. Total newly-registered and additional capital from both domestic and foreign investors was estimated at over VND22.3 trillion ($940 million).
