The General Department of Market Surveillance at the Ministry of Industry and Trade will showcase Ngoc Linh ginseng products in Hanoi from April 12-18 to help consumers distinguish qualified ginseng products grown in the central highlands’ Kon Tum province from other types of ginseng products.
Ngoc Linh ginseng, or Vietnamese ginseng, is a rare medical root found on Ngoc Linh Mountain on the border between Kon Tum and the central province of Quang Nam in the late 1960s. In June 2017, Ngoc Linh ginseng was included on the list of national products by the Prime Minister.
It is a precious herbal medicine that brings high economic efficiency. Authorized agencies therefore often discover violations relating to Ngoc Linh ginseng.
Authorized agencies said that more than 90 per cent of Ngoc Linh ginseng products sold in the market are without clear origin or quality. This exhibition is therefore expected to help consumers learn about quality Ngoc Linh ginseng products, to avoid buying low-quality or fake products.
It is also aimed at creating links between businesses, consumers, and State management agencies to detect and handle violations relating to counterfeit products or products without origin.
