The 8.5-km elevated section of the Nhon-Hanoi Station metro line is scheduled to open for commercial operation on August 8, the Vietnam News Agency has reported.
The plan received agreement from the State Inspection Council.
On August 2, the council conducted a site inspection and evaluated the section, saying it meets the design and requirements. The trial operation ensured technical conditions and procedures related to fire prevention, environment and safety were carried out and approved by State agencies.
Since the project was implemented, the council has organized 21 inspections on quality, construction documents and items, of which six had been conducted since the beginning of this year.
The council determined that the elevated section of the metro line ensured norms for commercial operation.
The Nhon - Hanoi Railway Station line runs 12.5 km from Nhon in Hanoi's Nam Tu Liem district via Kim Ma Street to Hanoi Railway Station in Dong Da district. Construction began in 2010 at an estimated cost of over VND34.8 trillion (nearly $1.37 billion).
The line passes through eight elevated and four underground stations.
