Vietnam sent 132,645 workers overseas under contracts in the first ten months of this year, or 20 per cent higher than the target for the year as a whole, the Government News quoted the Department of Overseas Labor at the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs as reporting.
Japan remained the leading host of Vietnamese labor exports in the period, with 67,550, followed by Taiwan (China) with 50,862, South Korea with 5,973, and China with 1,669.
Over a million Vietnamese have gone overseas to work since 2012, bringing home some $10 billion each year, according to a report from the government.
Labor exports have increased 7-10 per cent annually, and each worker earns VND200 million ($8,540) a year on average, according to a report from the Party Central Committee’s Economic Commission.
