Around 136,100 new enterprises were established in Vietnam in the first 10 months of 2024 with total registered capital of over VND1.3 quadrillion ($51 billion), figures from the General Statistics Office (GSO) show.
The figures represent a year-on-year growth of 1.9% in the number of businesses and 4.1% in registered capital, respectively.
The ten-month period saw more than 66,200 enterprises resuming their operations, up 27.7% compared to the same period last year.
Meanwhile, a total of 173,200 enterprises withdrew from the market, rising 18.4% year-on-year.
In October, nearly 14,200 new enterprises were established with total registered capital of VND153.5 trillion ($6.07 billion), down 9.8% in the number of firms but up 9.5% in registered capital year-on-year.
Existing enterprises resuming operations last month reached 8,700, surging 53.7% year-on-year.
October also saw 5,454 businesses registering for a temporary suspension of operations, down 0.9% year-on-year.
