Latest data from Kaspersky reveals that numerous security vulnerabilities within Vietnamese enterprise networks remain unpatched, leaving businesses consistently in the crosshairs of cybercriminals.

In the first half of 2025, Kaspersky successfully blocked over 301,880 exploit attacks targeting businesses in Vietnam, averaging approximately 1,600 incidents daily. This figure places Vietnam second in Southeast Asia, only behind Indonesia, which saw 524,657 incidents.

Other countries in the region recorded significantly lower numbers, including Thailand with 88,966 incidents, the Philippines 50,895, and Singapore  38,719.

Exploit attacks leverage security vulnerabilities, software flaws, or operating system weaknesses to gain unauthorized access to systems. If not promptly addressed, these vulnerabilities become "open doors" for attackers to seize control of enterprise data and resources.

According to another Kaspersky report, unpatched vulnerabilities in Microsoft Office products were the most common targets for exploit attacks globally in Q2 2025. Kaspersky also observed several attacks targeting the Windows platform.

Furthermore, low-code/no-code (LCNC) platforms and AI application frameworks are increasingly becoming targets for hackers. While these technologies offer convenience and efficiency to businesses, they also pose significant risks if not properly secured.

Adrian Hia, managing director for Asia Pacific at Kaspersky, said: “Vietnam is indeed a rapidly developing country. SMEs and large organisations are thriving and adopting tools to optimise workflows and enhance operational efficiency. However, this convenience comes with challenges. The more widely used these tools become, the more likely attackers will exploit the vulnerabilities from these tools.
