Vietnam sent nearly 72,300 workers overseas under labor contracts in the first half, a 1.55-fold increase over the same period last year, figures from the Department of Overseas Labor at the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs show.
The figure is equivalent to over 65 per cent of the annual target.
In June alone, more than 12,600 workers were sent abroad.
Japan continued to be the most popular destination during the first half, with over 34,500 workers, followed by Taiwan (China) with over 31,500 workers.
In order to further develop labor exports, the ministry said it will enhance selection tasks and human resources training. It will also continue negotiating and selecting new markets for workers.
