The balance of Vietnam’s Petrol Price Stabilisation Fund increased significantly in the second quarter of 2026, as contributions by fuel wholesalers exceeded the amount used to support prices, according to figures released by the Ministry of Finance.
At the beginning of the quarter, the fund’s balance sourced from State budget estimate for advance funding stood at VND701.806 billion ($26.6 million).
From April 1 to June 30, fuel wholesalers contributed more than VND1.886 trillion to the fund, while more than VND873.222 billion was used for price stabilisation. Together with VND309.3 million in interest earned on positive fund balances, the balance of this funding source rose to more than VND1.715 trillion ($65.2 million) by the end of June.
The figures show a substantial difference between inflows and outflows during the quarter. Contributions were more than twice the amount used for price stabilisation, resulting in a sharp increase in the fund’s balance over the three-month period.
