The Ministry of Industry and Trade has instructed petroleum producers and distributors to take proactive measures to ensure an uninterrupted supply of biofuel gasoline from June 1, 2026, as the country begins nationwide trade of E10 fuel.
The directive, issued by the Domestic Market Management and Development Agency, follows Circular No. 50/2025/TT-BCT, which sets out a roadmap for increasing the use of biofuels in transportation.
Under the regulation, all unleaded gasoline meeting current national technical standards must be blended into E10 gasoline for use in gasoline-powered vehicles nationwide starting June 1. Meanwhile, E5 RON92 gasoline will continue to be produced and supplied until the end of 2030.
To support the transition, fuel producers have been asked to secure sufficient base gasoline supplies and accelerate the blending of E5 and E10 biofuels. They must also fulfill supply commitments made to petroleum wholesalers according to agreed schedules.
Petroleum wholesalers and distributors have been directed to develop blending, purchasing and distribution plans to maintain stable supplies across their networks. Companies are also required to prepare storage facilities, equipment and technical infrastructure to ensure readiness for E5 and E10 distribution.
Authorities further urged fuel traders to closely monitor market demand and maintain adequate inventories to guarantee continuous biofuel supplies under all circumstances.
