Hanoi's Phap Van – Cau Gie Expressway - part of Vietnam's North-South highway system, is planned to be expanded to 10–12 lanes under a public–private partnership (PPP) model to meet rising transport demand and ease congestion.
The Ministry of Construction has assigned Phuong Thanh Investment and Transport Construction JSC to conduct a feasibility study for the expansion project, which has a total estimated investment of VND22 trillion ($836 million).
According to the ministry, the project proposal must be submitted to competent authorities for consideration in the second quarter of 2026.
The 29-kilometre expressway, which currently has six lanes and a roadbed width of 33.5 metres, serves as a key gateway connecting Hanoi with central and southern provinces.
