The Government Office has announced the conclusions of Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Chi Dung following a working session with leaders of southern Kien Giang province.

The Deputy Prime Minister emphasized that preparations for APEC High-Level Week 2027 must be closely aligned with Phu Quoc’s development, incorporating a long-term strategic vision extending beyond 2030, with goals reaching 2050 and even the next 100 years.

The ambition is to transform Phu Quoc into a world-class destination, ranking among the top 10 largest and most attractive islands globally, comparable to renowned destinations such as Bali and Phuket.

To achieve this, the selection of projects will be divided into two key categories: Urgent projects that directly support the APEC High-Level Week 2027 and require immediate investment and implementation; and Long-term projects that, while indirectly serving APEC, contribute to Phu Quoc’s sustainable development goals, ensuring their continued effective utilization beyond the conclusion of APEC 2027.

Additionally, the projects must outline a clear roadmap and completion timeline, establishing priorities and resource allocation to achieve the dual objectives of successfully hosting the APEC 2027 Summit while simultaneously fostering Phu Quoc’s long-term sustainable growth—benefiting both the island and the country as a whole.
