PM asks for measures to ensure fuel supply, market stabilization

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has called for the synchronous implementation of measures to ensure adequate petroleum supply, flexible price management, and stability in the domestic market amid unpredictable fluctuations in global energy markets.

In an official dispatch issued on March 11, the Prime Minister urged stronger measures to ensure sufficient petrol supply for production, business activities, and consumption by people and enterprises.

He instructed the Ministry of Industry and Trade to direct key petrol producers and traders to proactively develop supply plans to guarantee adequate fuel provision for distribution systems, maintain regular sales operations, and sell products at listed prices. The ministry was also asked to closely monitor developments in global and domestic petrol markets and adopt appropriate management measures when necessary.

The ministry was further tasked with coordinating closely with the Ministry of Finance and relevant agencies in managing petrol prices, accelerating the replenishment of national petroleum reserves, and completing mechanisms for releasing reserves in emergency situations in line with regulations.

The Minister of Finance was assigned to implement tax policies applicable to petroleum products and provide timely guidance to relevant agencies and enterprises to ensure consistent implementation while facilitating petroleum imports.

Leaders of major energy enterprises were instructed to maintain safe, stable, and continuous operations of oil and gas refineries. They were also asked to optimise operations within technical limits to increase petrol supply for the domestic market.

In addition, petrol distributors and retail stations were required to maintain regular sales operations, and ensure adequate fuel supply for the domestic market.
