At a working session with the Standing Board of the Hanoi Party Committee on August 17, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh asked Hanoi to pioneer in renewal, innovation, and startup and capitalize on the achievements of the fourth industrial revolution to build a smart city.

Outlining key tasks for the capital city to further boost growth in the coming time, PM Chinh instructed Hanoi to continue accelerating the disbursement of the public investment capital, renewing traditional growth drivers which are investment, export and consumption, while promoting new ones, especially green, digital, circular, intellectual and sharing economies.

The city was required to promote the provincial competitiveness and administrative reform indexes, promoting production and business and ensure supply of basic necessities.

PM Chinh highlighted five “focuses” for the city, which are ensuring macro-economic stability, boosting economic growth, curbing inflation, and assuring major balances of the economy; removing difficulties for production, business and mobilizing resources for the city’s development; stepping up administrative reform; ensuring social security; and developing culture on par with the city’s noble historic and cultural tradition.

According to reports at the meeting, Hanoi gained significant socio-economic growth in the first half of the year, with a GRDP growth of 6%.
