Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh called for join efforts to complete 3,000 km of expressways by 2025 under a 500-day emulation campaign which was launched in the Central Highlands’ Dak Lak province on August 18.

The event was connected via videoconference with 14 provinces and centrally-run cities where expressway projects are under construction.

PM Chinh stressed that the country targets to put 3,000 km and 5,000 km of expressways into use by 2025 and 2030, respectively.

So far, about 1,000 km of new expressways crossing 15 provinces and cities has been completed, raising the total length of such roads to nearly 2,100 km.

More than 1,700 km are under construction while work on another 1,400 km is about to start soon.

Those projects span 48 provincial-level localities nationwide.

PM Chinh requested the Ministry of Transport to coordinate with relevant ministries and agencies to regularly supervise and propose authorized agencies to promptly deal with difficulties and obstacles to accelerate the projects.

The Ministries of Finance and Planning and Investment were asked to prepare and allocate enough capital to meet progress of the projects.

At the event, representatives of the Ministry of Transport, Dak Lak province, and investors pledged to strive to accelerate the projects to put 3,000km of expressways into use by December 31, 2025.
