Vietnam constantly creates the best possible conditions for foreign investors to effectively conduct investment and business in the country, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh said during separate receptions for leaders from leading global corporations in the fields of technology, e-commerce, finance, and tourism on the sidelines of the 54th Annual Meeting of the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, Switzerland on January 16.

At a reception for Mr. Ryan McInerney, CEO of Visa Inc., which posted revenue of $32.6 billion in 2023, Prime Minister Chinh welcomed it to continue investing and engaging in the innovation and digital transformation process in Vietnam.

The Prime Minister suggested that Visa strengthen its cooperation with authorized Vietnamese agencies in supporting the development of programs for startup and innovation communities.

Mr. McInerney said Visa has long considered Vietnam as one of its most important markets.

Vietnam is developing dynamically and has strong demand for technologies and innovations, especially in e-payments, which is a strength of Visa, he went on, underlining that the company hopes to continue engaging more deeply with the country’s innovation and digital transformation process.

Receiving Vice President for Global Public Policy at Amazon Web Services (AWS), Mr. Michael Punke, Prime Minister Chinh lauded Amazon’s proposal to cooperate with Vietnam and contribute to its digital transformation, digital economy, and digital society efforts.

The Prime Minister suggested that Amazon help Vietnam design training and sales consulting programs for potential Vietnamese partners on the Amazon platform and promote cooperation with Vietnamese businesses.

Mr. Punke said Amazon is focusing on supporting Vietnamese businesses in the fields of banking, finance, telecommunications, and production by providing them with cloud computing services to speed up their digital transformation process.

Amazon hopes to join the Vietnamese Government in building a policy that prioritizes the use of cloud computing, he added.

At a reception for Ms. Jane Sun, CEO of Trip.com, a multinational online travel service group with 2023 revenue of $5.53 billion, Prime Minister Chinh asked it to prioritize supporting Vietnamese businesses, especially small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), to participate in its network to reach customers on a global scale, thereby contributing to the general development of Vietnam’s tourism market.

Ms. Sun recommended that Vietnam continue to concentrate on developing its infrastructure and provide more favorable visa policies for foreigners, while also focusing on training human resources in tourism.
